Today's Breakfast: Same as last week and the week before and the week before and the week before and the week before.
President Steve reminded us that there will be a Board meeting on Monday, September 29, at 5:00PM, at Cathy Gravel's office. Mel Babner has the Entertainment Books. We don't have a final tally on the Golf Tournamnet yet, but President Steve wanted to thank Joanne Donovan and Peggy Pedro for all their hard work keeping things in order and organized. Answer (a): Moonshine Still. It was Joanne's first time driving a golf cart and she drove like a pro!! Steve also thanked Steve Smith, who was a real sparkplug for the Tournament, and Rudy Van Oeveren, Herb Harris, Cathy Gravel, Peggy Lyons and Gayle Cavanaugh for their efforts.
President Steve told us that the Taste of the North Shore tickets are in. It's not too early to start promoting our largest fundraiser every year. In the coming months we'll all be visiting family--beginning next week for Rosh Hashanah, into November and December for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Channukah. Push sales of the raffle tickets as gifts.
Fred deNapoli and Grace Martins are on the District selection committee for the Outbound GSE team to South Africa. The team will be going to Johannesburg at the end of February, returning at the end of March. If you'd like to be considered as the team leader--as Grace was a few months ago--contact Fred or Grace. And if you know any non-Rotarian between the ages of 20 and 45 who might be interested in going, lead them to Fred and Grace.
Mel Babner reminded everyone to sell the Entertainment Books. He thanked Fred deNapoli and Chuck Holden for taking 10 and 5 books, respectively. And he thanks Cathy Gravel for selling 10 books!!

Grace Martins introduced our guest speaker, Amy-Jayne McCabe, who spoke of her Charity organization, USACares. This organization assists veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, something Amy-Jayne readily acknowledged that the government should be doing. They try to help financially and emotionally when needed. Amy-Jayne showed a brief video that featured the organization's spokeman, Dennis Miller.
Reminders:
*
The Taste Of The North Shore now has three restaurants signed up. And Bob Sweeney is working on the tickets. They should be ready for the Golf Tournament. The Chamber of Commerce will be sending out e-mail reminders to "Save the Date" of March 24th, 2009.
*
What do you do with your empty bottles and cans? (And we know there must be a lot of empty beer cans and bottles.) Please bring them (both beer and soda) to the meetings every week to give to Mel Babner. Every nickel helps!! Mel Thanks Dick Berg, Ralph Raynard and Gayle Cavanaugh for their generous contributions.
*
Our speaker scheduler, Grace Martins, is asking that you tell her of any people who may want to speak to the club or whom you think may be of interest to the club.
Reminder: If you see any news articles or pictures of our members, bring them in so the member can donate $$$ to the club. We can use the money!! But more important--we'd like to recognize and applaud our members.
*
50-50 Raffle: The pool was $Unknown. $12 was added this week. Neither Cathy Gravel nor Cathy Gravel (no, that's not a typo--her number was picked twice) picked the KING OF CLUBS or the $50 Joker.
