President Steve ran the meeting.
He thanked everyone for all the work they put in to make our 5th annul "Taste" successful. He reported that after all the bills were paid and we collected the receivables we will have cleared about $13, 000. In this economy that is very good. Steve gave a special thanks to Joanne and Nicloe for running such a smooth rafffle and auction. A special thank you to all the Restaurants that made are event so successful this year. Please visit them to support them thru the year. Mel said the Fatima would like to have a table next year as one of the restaurants. Everyone seemed to enjoy the night.

We gave a big round of applause to Mel & Donna who split the winning ticket for our $10,000. raffle. Congratulations to both of them.

President Steve mentioned the the PEABODY POLICE UNION had donated a check of $100. to our fundraiser.

Steve reminded the Board that we have a meeting on Monday March 30th. We are meeting at Chamion's Pub. Champions was due to participate in our Taste but had a fire and was unable to. We want to show our support to them.

Our District Simplified Grant project is targeted to take place on Saturday, April 25th. It will be a Bike Safety Day. We'll be giving out 250 bike helmets and Guard-a-kid will be preparing identification kits and CD's for all children. There also will be bike safety training. Be sure to save the date.This is a club service project so all Rotarians need to participate. Cathy asked for members to sign up to be part of the committee. To date Peg Lyons, Grace Steve Morad , Steve Smith and Cathleen Wardley and Joanne Donovan have volunteered.

Today Joanna Liss, Loring's wife talked to us about her travels from last summer. Joanna went on a volunteer trip through "Volunteer for Peace" to the Ukrane to clear away gravesites. Joanna researched the area prior to her arrival there and realized that her great grandparents were buried in the same cemetery that she would be cleaning. She tooks us through the events that lead up to her actually finding their headstones. Joanna had some very interesting stories to tell about her travels and about the city she visited last summer. She kept a blog in addition to her other travels. Joanna hopes to travel to France this year.
Reminders:
What do you do with your empty bottles and cans? (And we know there must be a lot of empty beer cans and bottles.) Please bring them (both beer and soda) to the meetings every week to give to Mel. Mel wants to thank Mike Tallo who brought in cans this week. Every nickel helps!! ******************************
