President Cathy reported that Ann Spak-Danjou really appreciated the meal that Steve Smith delivered thanks to Jesse, through Carrabba's.
President Cathy asked if we would support the Library's summer pre-lunch program as we had last year. We supplied crafts and two hours at a cost of $150. This year, the program runs from June 28th to August 5th, but will be at the Welch School because of Library renovations. The consensus of the club was to go ahead with it again. President Cathy mentioned that Mel was most appreciative of our Happy Dollar contribution last week for the Veterans' Homes.
There will be a new Boston start-up club beginning on June 8th. Bob Wood will bring our club's banner to that inaugural meeting. We will not participate in a bike safety program at the Liberty Tree Mall on June 19th--there were no volunteers.
PE Martha reminded members to make reservations by June 4th for our annual Installation Dinner will be on June 10th at Carrabba's. Members are encouraged to bring their mates to this evening of fellowship (June's Rotary theme). Members attending will be charged $10, their guests, $30. A separate e-mail was sent with the menu. (Please note this, Mel!!) The evening will begin at 6:30. There wil lbe NO BREAKFAST MEETING on June 10th.
Program Chair Grace introduced today's speaker, Katy Tavares, of the Aviv Centers for Living. Aviv consists of The Jewish Rehabilitation Center (JRC), Shapiro-Rudolph Adult Day Center, Woodbridge Assisted Living and Aviv HomeCare. Although the group's origin is Jewish, all are welcome. About fifty percent of those at the JRC are not Jewish. Woodbridge has about 90-95% Jewish residents and all food is Kosher. Katy mentioned that Aviv is having a fundraising Golf Tournament on June 14th. She talked about the difficulties in having loved ones accept a move to one of their facilities from their homes. She said that you may have to tell some "therapeutic fiblets". She also mentioned that Woodbridge offers 1-week up to 1-month "respites" or tryout stays for those reluctant to move there. Most who try out the apartments move in once they get accustiomed to it.

Happy Dollars: Sergeant-at-arms Steve Padulsky collected $78.
Reminder: If you see any news articles or pictures (not Rotary related) of our members, bring them in so the member can donate $$$ to the club. We can use the money!! But more important--we'd like to recognize and applaud our members.
******************************
50-50 Raffle: Neither Steve Morad nor Vanessa picked the Queen of Hearts so no-one won the $241.00.
*******************************
Reminders:
Our speaker scheduler, Grace Martins, asks that you tell her of any people who may want to speak to the club or whom you think may be of
interest to the club.

Secretary Gary Epstein reminds members of Rotary's attendance requirements. Members cannot miss more than three consecutive meetings without making up. However, there are plenty of opportunities to make up. Attend a Board meeting (All members are encouraged to attend, anyway.), attend a committee meeting, work on the website, and the most basic make-up--attend other clubs' meetings. Be sure to steal ideas our club can use!!
*************************
What do you do with your empty bottles and cans? (And we know there must be a lot of empty beer cans and bottles.) Please bring them (both beer and soda) to the meetings every week to give to Mel. Every nickel helps!!

NEXT MEETINGS:
June 10: NO BREAKFAST MEETING--Annual Installation Dinner tonight at Carrabba's.
June 17: Amy Tetrault, GSE Update from London
June 24: Iris Weaver, Spiritual Herbalist
Please make every effort to attend your Rotary meetings. The more members we have each week, the better we look to potential members--and to our visitors and speakers.
There was a man who had worked all of his life and was a real miser when it came to his money.
He loved money more than anything, and just before he died, he said to his wife,
"Now listen. When I die, I want you to take all my money and put it in the casket with me, because I want to take my money to the afterlife with me."
And so he got his wife to promise him with all of her heart that when he died, she would put all of the money in the casket with him.
One day he died. He was stretched out in the casket, the wife was sitting there in black, and her friend was sitting next to her.
When they finished the ceremony, just before the undertakers got ready to close the casket, the wife said, "Wait just a minute!"
She had a box with her. She came over with the box and put it in the casket.
Then the undertakers locked the casket down and rolled it away.
Her friend said, "Girl, I know you weren't foolish enough to put all that money in there with that man."
She said, "Listen, I'm a Christian; I can't lie. I promised him that I was going to put his money in that casket with him, and that's what I did."
Her friend was amazed, "You mean to tell me you put all his money in the casket with him?"
"I sure did," said the wife. "I wrote him a check."
It's easy to become a Rotary Sustaining member. It's $100 per year, but Loring can bill you $25 per quarter. That's $8.33 a month, or 28 CENTS a day, or a little over a penny an hour.
