Our annual Installation Dinner was held on Thursday, June 23rd, at the Holy Ghost Society, catered by Grace's sister, Marina. The meal was fantastic as was the service!! We began the meeting as usual with the Pledge of Allegiance and then a harmonious rendition of God Bless America by those assembled. For some reason, President Martha thought we needed the lyrics in print at our seats.
President Martha began the evening by awarding Pefrect Attendance pins to the following:
Bob Wood 2 years
Cathy Gravel 6 years
Loring Merrow 6 years
Peggy Pedro 9 years
Herb Harris 12 years
Mel Babner 40 years
When awarding Mel's pin, President Martha thanked him for always being the first one at the meetings and getting everything set up and greeting visitors.
Foundation Chair and District Secretary, Peggy Pedro, made the Paul Harris Fellowship presentations. The first one was awarded to Vanessa Silveira, who was unable to attend the dinner since her baby is only 11 days old. The second Paul Harris Fellowship was awarded to Fred deNapoli, completing this Circle of Gold. A new Circle of Gold was formed by the following members: Fred deNapoli, Peggy Pedro, Gary Epstein, Cathy Gravel and Martha Holden.
President Martha made a special presentation to Cathy Gravel: The Guatemala Literacy Fellow.
Then she named Loring Merrow as Rotarian of the Year.
President Martha thanked all of our members and the Board for a terrific year presented each with the President's Citation. Rather than recap the year in words, she showed a slide show presentation of pictures from the past year that ran throughout the rest of the evening.
President-Elect Steve Padulsky made a presentation to President Martha, recognizing the outstanding job she did. Then he announced the Officers and Board of Directors for 2011-2012:
President: Steve Padulsky
President-Elect: Vanessa Siveira
Vice President: Bon Clattenburg
Secretary: Gary Epstein
Treasurer: Loring Merrow
Sergeant at Arms:John Meakin
Past President: Martha Holden
Board Members:
Peggy Lyons
Peggy Pedro
Brian Cassidy
Megan Shea-Pereira
Herb Harris
President-Elect Steve then made his inaugural address, looking forward to his year as Peabody Rotary President.
Membership Chair Steve Smith and President-Elect Steve then installed our newest member into our club. Welcome to Peabody Rotary, Jessika Rodriguez!!
Dinner was served and great fellowship followed!
(Ed.'s note: Many thanks to Peggy Pedro for taking and e-mailing me a plethora of pictures. These covered my out of focus picture taking. Some of the above pictures are mine, some are Peggy's. I hope everyone who attended made it in at least one picture!)
