President Steve ran the meeting.
He reminded everyone the March 2nd was the next board meeting.

Steve reminded everyone that we should all be focused on the "Taste" We all need to sell tickets, try to get ads and if we get any raffle prizes we should give to Nicole or Joanne.

Cathy told everyone the the "Safe 2 Pedal Day" will be on April 25th. The location is TBA. She spoke to the Mayor and the Police dept everyone is on board. She reminded everyone this is a Club service Project which requires full club participation based on the grant received. Please mark your calendars. If the date is totally out of the question for you it is your responsibility to contribute something to the project. See Cathy!
Steve Smith proposes Tom Bent, Marketing Manager at Salem Five.
Regarding Tom Bent, Marketing Manager, Salem Five - Peabody
…"if anyone has objection to Tom's membership in the club please detail your reason in writing and submit it to the Board of Directors within seven days".

Grace reminded us that we need to find a new Host family for our exchange student from Colombia, Martin. Apparently, the State Department says that exchange students must stay at more than one family during their time in the US. The Host family does not necessarily have to be a Rotarian family, so ask your friends and neighbors. Cathy Gravel is also looking for members to help by inviting Martin to join them on the weekends. Anyone who helps--whether as a host family or as an hour sponsor--must be CORI'd--all members of the family who are at least 18 years old.

Our District Simplified Grant project is targeted to take place on Saturday, April 25th. It will be a Bike Safety Day. We'll be giving out 250 bike helmets and Guard-a-kid will be preparing identification kits and CD's for all children. There also will be bike safety training. Be sure to save the date. This is a club service project so all Rotarians need to paticipate. Cathy asked for members to sign up to be part of the committee. To date Peg Lyons, Grace and Steve Morad have volunteered.

Cathy reported that we have 18 confirmed Restaurants. Many email, letters and faxes were sent out and now follow up phone calls will take place.

Today our guests were from North Shore Community College. Each of our guests spoke about the importance of the College. They spoke about the Foundation and what the Money from the foundation is spent on. The College has grown tremendously over the last several years. The course selection is huge as well as the opportunities for students. Most of us have either attended or know someone who has attended. In these economic times enrollment is expected to also grow. The Foundation is always looking for support. Contact any of the board members to make a donation.
What do you do with your empty bottles and cans? (And we know there must be a lot of empty beer cans and bottles.) Please bring them (both beer and soda) to the meetings every week to give to Mel. Mel wants to thank Mike Tallo who brought in cans this week. Every nickel helps!!
******************************
Our speaker scheduler, Grace Martins, is asking that you tell her of any people who may want to speak to the club or whom you think may be of interest to the club.
******************************
Happy Dollars: This month's Sergeant-at-arms Grace Martins collected $32.
Reminder: If you see any news articles or pictures (not Rotary related) of our members, bring them in so the member can donate $$$ to the club. We can use the money!! But more important--we'd like to recognize and applaud our members.
******************************
50-50 Raffle: The pool was $16.00 We are looking for the 8 of Clubs. Neither Kristen(NSCC) nor Mel won.
